Meadow Mountain Cooperation Agreement Between
Selkirk Snowcat Skiing (Selkirk)
And
The Nelson Sno-Goers (NSG)

Selkirk Snowcat Skiing and Nelson Sno-Goers have a long history of cooperation and shared use on Meadow Mountain. This Cooperation Agreement is meant to update our collaborative efforts and lay out the obligations of each party.

Selkirk Snowcat Skiing Agree To:

  1. Regularly plow Deception Rd and provide 2 pullouts for truck parking and unloading.

  2. Groom the main forestry road twice/month December through April, conditions permiting.

  3. Install signage along the forestry road indicating the safest route to the back meadows.

  4. Install signage on its driveways notify the public that access to its exclusive use lodge lease area is restricted.

  5. Regularly clear the cabin driveways, conditions permitting.

  6. Install signage at specific locations discouraging public access into the Selkirk ski area to educate the public on safe use within the shared recreation area.

  7. Install bamboo with flagging along Midnight Road for added safety.

  8. Post DANGER EXPLOSIVES NO ENTRY signage around its explosive magazine.

  9. Assist stuck or broken sleds, when possible.

  10. Assist with evacuating injured sledders, when possible.

  11. Post daily weather and snow condition updates from early December through April 15.

  12. Post this agreement on its website.

  13. Work with Sno-Goers to organize an annual meeting each fall no later than October 31 to discuss the upcoming winter. A similar meeting is to take place in the spring, no later than May 31.

  14. Host an annual beverage and barbecue party, details and dates to be determined.

Nelson Sno-Goers Agree To:

  1. Not use or block the Selkirk staging and parking area on Meadow FSR.

  2. Leave ample room on Deception Road for an ambulance to access Selkirk base parking on Meadow FSR. This applies 24/7 from December 1 through April 15.

  3. Avoid the Selkirk driveways. The Selkirk lodge lease is exclusive use and signage is posted restricting public access.

  4. Avoid the cat road above the Selkirk lodge and within any proximity of their explosive magazine.

  5. Use the main forestry road as the primary access to and from the recreation site.

  6. Work with Selkirk to organize an annual meeting each fall no later than October 31 to discuss any issues and the upcoming winter. A similar meeting is to take place in the spring no later than May 31.

  7. Promote safety in the backcountry and educate its members and the public about safe use practices when recreating beyond the Selkirk ski area signs.

  8. Respect and follow Selkirk signage on how to safely recreate beyond the posted ski area signs.

  9. Commit to respecting Selkirk ski area signage while maintaining access to non-ski terrain within and outside the recreation site. (areas to be agreed to and mapped)

  10. Post this Cooperation Agreement on its website and in both Meadow cabins.
